Apice vecchia: the ghost town

The recently restored Castello dell'Ettore is a true open-air museum. Located about 15 km far from Benevento, in the heart of Apice Vecchia, is considered by many as the most fascinating abandoned village in Italy.

In the splendid scenery of the ghost town of Apice Vecchia, also known as the Pompeii of the 20th century, just like Pompeii, the time was frozen by an earthquake.
